Each module addresses issues that are critical to instructional leaders who must be knowledgeable about many areas of administration, management, teaching, and learning.
Teacher Evaluation: New Directions and Practices
This module focuses on the need for effective teacher evaluation with a view to improve learning opportunities in their various classroom settings. It presents a form of evaluation that will reflect a more enlightened view of teaching, that will inspire educators to aim higher in creating their curricula and designing their programs, and that will introduce new forms of mentoring, collaboration, and collegiality.
Human Issues in School Management
This module focuses on understanding the importance of leading human resource development. It discusses the rationale for establishing good human relations with various sectors of the school community.
School Administration and Finance
This module discusses how school administrators can discharge their financial obligations more efficiently and effectively. It presents models designed to support schools to manage their organization and their finances more strategically to meet the needs of all its students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
Communication Strategies and Skills
This module is designed to enhance effective communication through writing, public speaking, verbal and nonverbal modes and in crisis situations.
Expanding the School’s Community Relations
This module provides practical strategies for developing and sustaining meaningful community and school partnerships. It highlights the role of the school and the community in creating a collaborative school culture that will foster rich learning environments where student achievement is enhanced.
Professional Ethics for School Administrators
This module describes the characteristics of an Ethical Culture in schools focusing on Codes of Conduct and Codes of Ethics; how these codes can be evaluated and how these can promote an ethical school.
Effective School Leadership
This module gives participants new insights and specific tools for leading and managing schools. It aims to enhance their leadership skills by making them aware of their leadership behaviors. Strategies for effective school leadership will be discussed and analyzed in order for participants to determine which strategies may be employed to strengthen their competence and confidence.
Leadership Styles
This module discusses the different leadership styles focusing on the various characteristics of an effective leader. Opportunities are provided to allow participants to adapt a particular leadership style to a given situation.
Strategic Planning 1
This module provides practical strategies to assist school leaders in creating a learning community that will shape a school’s shared vision, facilitate committees in creating development plans, and establishing a climate that supports a collegial and caring environment to enhance student achievement.
Strategic Planning II
This module discusses the various strategies to determine the effectiveness of the school’s organizational set-up and the degree to which all sectors of the school community are achieving their respective goals. Participants shall be guided to design a workable developmental plan for the school.
